Slender (aka Kyran)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I caved…just a little. As I stated in my last post Happy Birthday<\/strong><\/em>, Welcome To The dark Side of 16,<\/a> the horror-scavenger\u00a0\u00a0hunt didn’t go as my daughter originally planned. But it did indeed go… with a few compromises.<\/p>\n

After an initial video game of Slender<\/strong><\/em> (in our Retro Rumpus Room<\/a>), the party of teenage girls hiked through the forest behind my home. They were guided by lantern light and were on the look out for Slender style clues <\/strong>on random trees (the route changed from the other side of our mountain, to the side behind our home– which, is a fairly calm path behind a block of homes–no cliffs). Also, instead of Slender stalking the group, we had him hide in the forest and wait. At the end of their hike he was waiting for them with his box if treasures<\/strong>. My nephew dressed up as the horror character Slender and braved the forest and about ten girls.<\/p>\n

I prepared the girls ahead of time by instructing them that I was responsible for them as the adult supervising the party and that they all had to stay together no matter what.
\nIf one needed\/wanted to turn back, they all had to turn back together.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>
\nI drove Slender and the treasure chest to the end of our street where we could access a path to the forest. Our crew also included my youngest daughter Pip,she tagged along with Mom and cousin as no one was at our home to look after her (she wore her vampire dress for the occasion<\/strong>). We hiked as close to the spot my daughter had described to me as we could find (it was difficult to know which tree stump in the dark)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

While the girls admitted to being scared, no one panicked and it all went over without a hitch. The key to its success was: coaching the girls to stick together, the new, less-dangerous terrain route, Mist’s strategic placement of the clues, and having Slender waiting at the end (instead of stalking the girls).<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the hike, the girls returned home to Japanese food<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Miso soup<\/em>
\n 4 varieties of sushi roll<\/em>
\n Raw veggie platter with dip<\/em>
\n Vegetarian spring rolls and plum sauce.<\/em>
\nFruit Punch bowl.<\/em>

The final leg of the hike took them up the hill to the tree where Slender was waiting (and let forth a blood-curdling screech).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

After supper, the girls had time for a guitar serenade by Slender (aka cousin Kyran).
\nNext, time to watch\u00a0Battle Royale<\/strong><\/em> (Japanese thriller movie) followed by cake\/presents and finally time for games before a few guests departed before midnight while other stayed for the sleep over.<\/p>\n

Coffee\/Toffee Ice Cream Cake<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Oreo Cookie crumb crust<\/em>:<\/p>\n

one box Oreo crumbs<\/p>\n

1\/2 cup butter<\/p>\n

melt butter, add crumbs. Press into 12″ spring-form pan and bake @325 o F for 15 minutes. Cool.<\/p>\n

pour caramel or butterscotch sauce over crust (enough to cover crust). Freeze.<\/p>\n

-slightly thaw 1 litre coffee ice cream and spread smoothly across crust.<\/p>\n

-slightly thaw 1 litre salted toffee ice cream and smooth on top of coffee ice cream.<\/p>\n

-drizzle caramel\/butterscotch sauce over cake and top with crushed Score candy bars. Freeze until solid (6 h+). Top with puffs of whipped cream along edges and serve.<\/p>\n
