The falls flow into a creek that empties into the wide, majestic Columbia River, only meters away from the massive Columbia River hydro dam.<\/p>\n<p>It is the Columbia River that created Upper and Lower Arrow Lake; or rather, a massive, concrete, electric hydro dam built on the Columbia River, created the Arrow Lakes.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15508\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 616px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15508\" src=\"http:\/\/mixhart.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230886-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"616\" height=\"462\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230886-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230886-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230886-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230886.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Falling Leaves and Waterfalls, Moses Falls, BC, Mix Hart<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Moses Falls exist within the Earth&#8217;s only inland temperate rainforest:\u00a0this rainforest is home to the nearly extinct mountain caribou and many other wild creatures, such as wolves.<\/p>\n<p>The BC government continues to <a href=\"http:\/\/mixhart.ca\/blog\/index.php\/killing-wolves-kills-humans\/\">slaughter entire packs of wolves<\/a>\u00a0that call the rainforest home. Unjustly, the wolves are scapegoats,\u00a0the governments attempt to make it look like they are trying to help save the mountain caribou by slaughtering all the caribou&#8217;s natural predators. Sadly,<strong> the only predator that is truly hurting the caribou&#8217;s chance of survival is the human being.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15502\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 548px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15502 \" src=\"http:\/\/mixhart.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230880-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"548\" height=\"731\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230880-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230880-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230880.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 548px) 100vw, 548px\" \/><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Falling Leaves and Waterfalls, Moses Falls, BC, Mix Hart<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the area that surrounds Moses Falls, I discovered so much industrial and recreational destruction, that it is no wonder the shy mountain caribou are facing extinction.<\/p>\n<p>The huge dam prevents caribou from accessing the Columbia shore line and also floods vast hectares of their valley habitat. Sadly, the hydro dam is only the tip on the environmental-destruction.<\/p>\n<p>The fragile rainforests and alpine forests of this region are overpopulated with outdoor adventure operations that encourage tourists to explore the rainforest wilderness all year long, in motorized quads (all terrain vehicles) and snowmobiles.<\/p>\n<p>The caribou don&#8217;t stand a chance; their sacred winter breeding grounds (and summer birthing grounds) are constantly trespassed on and damaged by careless human beings in noisy, destructive vehicles (that harass and frighten the caribou).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15505\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 616px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15505\" src=\"http:\/\/mixhart.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230900-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"616\" height=\"462\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230900-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230900-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230900-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.mixhart.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/PA230900.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Falling Leaves and Waterfalls, Moses Falls, BC, Mix Hart<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;Beautiful BC&#8221; is British Columbia&#8217;s provincial slogan.
