\u00a0I have had the most wondrous Birthday weekend ever!<\/em>\u00a0My family loaded up our car and headed out on a last minute road trip adventure to Whistler BC<\/strong> (we were blessed to find last minute dog sitters).<\/h3>\n

I hope you enjoy the wild eagle pictures from the stunning Nicola Valley in British Columbia<\/strong>. If you’ve never done it, you must drive the Nicola Valley<\/strong> route to Whistler<\/strong>.<\/h3>\n

My first birthday adventure happened\u00a0along the scenic northern route to Whistler, as we travelled through the rolling desert hills of the Nicola Valley. Suddenly, I found myself in Eagle Country<\/em> and scrambled for my camera. In my excitement, I had the settings a little off; though, I managed to take a few distant photos of a magnificent golden eagle that swooped over the highway and landed on a cliff overhead.<\/h3>\n

*Not the picture quality I hoped for, but I learned my lesson to always be camera ready on a road trip!<\/em><\/p>\n

The golden eagle (pictured above and below) was enormous. It is hard to tell from the pics as there is nothing to compare it with but it was the largest eagle I’ve scene. Golden eagles are quite rare and the largest of the eagles. This one pictured is young–only a year old as it still has white markings on its wings and tail.<\/h3>\n

Only a few miles farther down the highway I spotted two bald eagles–mother and youth–flying ballet tricks in the air for me. I dashed across the highway barefoot and managed to get a few distant shots.<\/h3>\n
