Hold on summer, you’re not going anywhere if I have a say in it. <\/strong><\/h3>\n

The pictures spread throughout this post are from my camping trip in the Southern Okanagan BC. I took my daughters on an Adventure Girls<\/strong><\/a> camping trip and we had fun and adventures! \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Labour day today. I will hit the beach and cherish the Okanagan summer for one more day.<\/p>\n

I effectively took most of the summer off from my writing projects. I didn’t plan it that way but once summer gets going it’s easy to get caught up on all the activities with my kids.\u00a0I think it’s for the best as once tomorrow hits, it is back to the grind with long days of structured work time.<\/p>\n

I am excited for this year of writing. I learned so very much last year–on the front lines of all types of online and print writing: freelance, adcopy, fiction, blogging. I had a taste of all of it and know what makes an income, what my passions are and what\u00a0forms of writing are in the midst of a slow death and are not worth pursuing. They will be reborn, rising like phoenixes in the next few decades but for now, they are tumbling to extinction.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0am grateful for this one year I devoted exclusively\u00a0to writing pursuits of many forms. I learned so very much in one year, simply because I put myself on the front lines and did nothing but write, publish and attempt to publish.
\nThis year is another dedicated solely\u00a0to my writing (and yes, more painting as it is time for picture books again after a long rest).<\/p>\n

I am enthusiastic, passionate and determined and in the words of my new mentor, Neil Gaiman<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

The old rules are crumbling and no one knows what the new rules are. So make up your own rules.–NG<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Here’s to making up my own rules (I’ve always been good at this<\/em>)!<\/strong><\/p>\n
