Before you bring home those stunning flowers, beware: bee killing herbicides are found everywhere<\/strong>. They’re called neonicotinoids and over half of all plants that Canadian greenhouses sell contain them.<\/p>\n

I talked to my local greenhouse to ask if their plants\/flowers contained bee-killing neonicotinoids and no one could tell me. Every employee I talked to claimed to not know. I want to do my part to protect life on earth, to make sure the bees in my yard are not being poisoned. It is a very difficult thing to do when Canadian plant retailers don’t have to label the use of neonicitinoids.<\/p>\n

Ontario recently became the first province to restrict<\/a> the use of neonicotinoid-coated seeds province wide. The rest of Canada must follow suit immediately. You can help by telling your local greenhouse that you want to know if their plants are neonicotinoid free and refuse to buy from that greenhouse unless they can\u00a0guarantee\u00a0that they are.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My youngest daughter and I recently marched to protest the use of neonicotinoids\u00a0(which kill the bees) and glyphosate (Roundup) by Monsanto. Neonicitinoides are killing our bees and glyphosate is killing the butterflies as well as it is a carcinogen as WHO<\/a> (The World Health Organization) recently published. It is listed as a probable<\/em> carcinogen as human tests have not been conducted but tests on animals have been conclusive that it is a cancer-causing toxin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
