I Found This Spider & I’m Keeping Her

I found this spider behind a book shelf in my in-home office. It was dark in the corner where I discovered her. At first I thought she was a black widow (we have several come inside every fall). I used my camera to snap her picture and then enlarged it to see who I was dealing with. To my delight, she wasn’t a black widow. She was this orange-bellied beauty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I was relieved. I didn’t need to relocate her. She was free to stay where she’d made her home, behind the book shelf. Why do I let spiders live in my home?<\/strong> Primarily, because they do far more good and no harm. Just look at what I found in her web?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My new pet is keeping my home free of more annoying critters like centipedes etc..<\/strong><\/p>\n

Next time you’re about to freak over finding a spider in your home, stop. Before you relocate her, or worse, remember that she’s probably keeping your house free of annoying insect critters for you.<\/p>\n

Bonus<\/strong>: I’m expecting her crew of workers to grow. These are her egg sacks that I found:<\/p>\n

Looks like my house will be gaining many new pets. No, I’m not crazy, I’m a realist. Why use dangerous toxins to rid your home of unwanted insects when a harmless spider will do all the work for free and save your health. I don’t expect everyone to welcome spiders into their home right away. But I am hopeful that next time, before you’re about to kill a spider, you stop and, at the very least, move her outside.<\/p>\n
